Traffic aide fined P5K by court for dishonesty is with CCTO, not LTO 7: chief

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 yesterday clarified that the traffic aide named Marilou Alferez, who was fined P5,000 by the court for dishonesty, was not an employee of the agency but was connected with City Traffic Operations and Management (Citom), now known as Cebu City Traffic Office (CCTO).

LTO 7 Assistant Director Alita Pulga said that LTO 7 Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec wanted to correct the wrong information because it could leave a bad impression of the agency. (It was the court that described Alferez as an LTO employee.)

Alferez was found guilty of violating Section 7 (d) of Republic Act 6713 (Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees) in a decision of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities in Cebu City.

Virgil Ong had accused Alferez of asking for P400 to return his driver’s license. (EOB)
