Training workshop for science school teachers set

AN OFFICIAL of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) announced that a two-day research-driven training-workshop is set to be held for science school teachers and other stakeholders in Zamboanga Peninsula (Western Mindanao).

DOST Regional Director Brenda Nazareth-Manzano said the workshop, which will be conducted in partnership with the National Academy of Science and Technology, Philippines (NAST PHL), is scheduled to be held from October 27 to 28 in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Nazareth said the first day of the workshop aims to train participants in Writing and Presenting Research Proposals.

The second day will focus on Enhancing the Research and Thesis Writing Capabilities of Special Science School Teachers.

Nazareth said they are also inviting Research and Development (R&D) practitioners, researchers, journal editors, state universities and colleges, and individuals or groups from higher education institutes to join the workshop.

Nazareth said workshops stemmed from the government project "Evaluation and Improvement of the Research Publication and IP Productivity of the National R&D System," which highlights the importance of research, its benefits, and the upgrading of the status of research in the country as one of its primary objectives.

The DOST and NAST PHL have been conducting capability building activities aimed at enabling researchers to implement research projects and produce R&D outputs, while promoting awareness and developing a science culture through a growing network of regional researchers.

Nazareth said those who are interested to attend the two-day workshop may call John Apolinario III at (062)991-1024 or +639177085181 and Merilyn Cadag at +639498254612. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
