'Triggerman' in village chief's slaying arrested

THE local police are set to file charges against the person who allegedly shot an official of an east coast village in Zamboanga City.

Chief Inspector Salvador Galvez, Police Station 1 chief, said the suspect, Joenalffrey Maningo, was arrested around 11:50 a.m. of April 29, 16 hours after the killing of Eduardo Caloyloy.

Caloyloy, barangay captain of Licomo, was killed around 7:30 p.m. Friday (April 28) at a store in front of Licomo village hall.

Caloyloy and three of his friends were about to go home after a drinking session when shot by a lone gunman aboard a motorcycle. Another suspect stood nearby as a lookout.

Galvez said Maningo was nabbed along the national highway of Barangay Tictapul.

The suspect refused to undergo paraffin examination.
