Truck driver faces raps for fatal road accident

THE truck driver involved in a road accident Thursday that killed a family of four on the highway of Barangay Atipuluan, Bago City, was charged for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to properties.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, deputy chief for administration of Bago City Police Station, said the charges were filed before the Bago City Prosecutor’s Office against Herman Mahometano, 58, of Barangay Pacol, Valladolid at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

On November 30, the victims were on their way to La Carlota City when a truck loaded with sugarcane fell on their car.

Killed were Romulo Espinosa, 59, who was driving, his wife Josephine, 53, both of La Carlota City as well as their daughter Christine Sarcia, 31, and her son Vincent John Sarcia, 4, both of Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.

Mahometano is detained at the station. He has yet to meet the victims’ family.
