Truck pins 4 to death in Jasa road mishap

GUAGUA -- A flatbed truck carrying hundreds of sacks of cement along Jose Abad Santos Avenue (Jasa) in San Juan Nepomuceno village, this town, pinned a family of three to death on Friday, December 9, after its driver allegedly lost control of the wheel when it tried to overtake another vehicle.

The wayward truck also killed a civilian employee of the Guagua police station.

The fatalities were identified as Regalado Saclo, a councilor of Sta. Rita village, Lubao, Pampanga; Kathlene Saclo, 29; Xavien Red Adriel Saclo, 5; and Richard Dayot.

Police said five vehicles including two tricycles, a silver Toyota Altis (ZCP-906), a Toyota Fortuner (VC8476), and an Isuzu Tractor Head with flatbed trailer (RCH-519) were involved in the vehicular accident that happened past 10 a.m.

Reports said that the truck carrying hundreds of bags of cement was cruising along the speed lane of Jasa when its driver, identified as Alexander Pineda of WDR Industrial Corporation, lost control of the wheel while trying to overtake another vehicle.

Pineda allegedly went on a sudden brake causing the truck to swerve to the opposite lane, hitting the four vehicles before falling into a 15-foot deep ridge of the highway near the San Juan Nepomuceno Bridge and landed on top of the car of the Saclo family.

Pineda surrendered to authorities of the Guagua police station and is detained at the Guagua police station pending filing of appropriate charges.

This is the second accident along Jasa. It could be remembered that a 16-year-old girl was killed and five others were seriously injured in a multiple car collision which transpired in the Lubao section of Jasa recently.
