DAVAO is honored once again with WCOPA (World Championships of Performing Arts) awards under the tutelage of Muzic’s Kool’s Music Guru, Mr. Jeremy Sarmiento. They bagged 175 medals (39 Gold, 65 Silver & 43 Bronze) including Senior Grand Champion Performer of the World for “Junior New System” during the annual awarding ceremony at the 2016 WCOPA awards held at Long Beach, California last July 7 to 17.
Since 2014 Jeremy Sarmiento started training delegates from Davao and in 2015 he was appointed as the official talent scout of WCOPA. Thus, he sent some of the best students of Muzic’s Kool and won most of the top awards. Up to the present, he said he still continues to bring talents coming not only from Muzic’s Kool but also from different performing groups.
For this year, a total of eight (8) delegates from Davao City competed for WCOPA where five of them are from Muzic’s Kool and Muzic’s Kool House of Dance namely Marco Antonio Unabia (Junior – dance), JazmineKeira Sarmiento (Junior – vocals), Jizelle Dea Formilleza (vocals), Jemimah Keziah Morales (dance) and Mae-ann Bornillo (dance). The remaining three delegates, though not from Muzic’s Kool, are Ann Quitoriano Casteel (vocals), Ira Sisa Aparra (dance) and David Priego Walter (modeling) who are among those wonderful talents who gave outstanding performances as well.
Ira Sisa Aparra is a dancer who started formal training in Jazz at thirteen years old. She has consistently been a member of the dance troupe in her elementary and high school years and found her passion for performing and choreographing contemporary, modern, jazz, and neo-ethnic after she became a member of the UP Mindanao Dance Ensemble in college.
Her experiences of performing and choreographing in the group inspired her to study and tackle the communicative aspect of dance in her undergraduate thesis. She continues to pursue her passion for dance and takes her talent and passion to the next level by trying and learning different genres of dance and entering competitions here and abroad. Ira is one of the grand finalists of WCOPA 2016.
Jizelle Dea Formilleza, a Muzic'sKool scholar / artist, is the versatile singer who has won several music events such as the Ateneo Star Seach 2011 and Talent Edge. She has also joined Star Power and Kanta Pilipinas and has recently served as the front act for a concert by Boyce Avenue.
She aspires to become internationally known, releasing a number of solo albums and even holding concerts worldwide.
