Two men nabbed in Lapu-Lapu

TWO drug pushers who previously surrendered to the police are back to their old ways but were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City last Tuesday.

An official of the Lapu-Lapu City Intelligence Branch (CIB) believes some drug pushers only surrender to the police to cover up their illegal activities.

The CIB arrested Steve Ryan Muñez, 36, at 4:50 p.m. in Sitio Kadulang. He earlier surrendered to Lapu-Lapu Police Station 4.

The group led by Senior Insp. Joey Bicoy conducted the operation against Muñez after they received reports that he continued to sell illegal drugs.

The police decoy was able to buy a sachet of shabu from the suspect.

They recovered 10 sachets of shabu worth P6,500, buy-bust money and P700 cash.

In Sitio Marbeach, elements of the Lapu-Lapu Police Station 4 led by Senior Insp. Alcon Escusora arrested John Louie “JL” Acido, 30, at 9:30 p.m.

The police recovered from him 10 sachets of shabu, buy-bust money and P300 cash.

Monitor

In an interview yesterday, CIB head Chief Insp. Mark Gifter Sucalit said that drug surrenderers are being monitored by the police.

A drug personality who showed up at the police station and surrendered is not certain to stay away from drugs, he said.

Mao na ang atong nakita nga modus. Mo-surrender unya sige gihapon. (We believe that it is a modus. They surrender yet secretly continue their illegal activities),” he said.

Sucalit is thankful that the community has been active in monitoring their area by immediately reporting any illegal activities to the police.

The two suspects are detained at the Lapu-Lapu Police Office holding cell.
