THE Josefa Llanes Escoda Elementary School (Jlees) of Unit 1 and
Maa National High School (MNHS) of Unit 3 defended their gold medals as the 2016 Davao City Athletic Association Meet 2016 sepak takraw tournament closed at Sta. Ana National High School.
Jlees, coached by Ronnie Daigdigan, defeated Unit 2’s Buhisan Elementary School, 2-0, for the elementary boys crown behind the services of Stephen Dave Kilayco, Rogin and Robert Lapaz, and Ivan Dale Tanduyan.
MNHS, however, blanked the Calinan National High School of Unit 4, 2-0, in the High School girls division.
The Rued Burila-mentored MNHS was bannered by Alexandra Enriquez, Bernadeth Yataza and April Chavez.
MNHS boys team also eked out a 2-0 win over Malabog National High School of Unit 2 in the secondary boys finals.
MNHS was composed of Joel Adorable, Alfred Dayap, Rosefer Serdina, Jieremy Anino, Bryan Jay Gernale, Adrian and Datu Ken Interino, Axl Jun Lidasan, Jimboy Oracion, Hernan Pacete, Marphe Sabado and Owen Velasquez with Eugene Mosqueda as coach.
The team thanked Oliva Cal, Maa Barangay Council and staff, Sports Development Trainer-Marlowe Milan, and Ruel Yataza.
The Jlees and MNHS boys and girls team will represent the city for the upcoming Davao Region Athletic Association next year.
