University of Mindanao grads top September LET

THE University of Mindanao (UM) produced its fourth top ranking Teaching Education graduate in three years in the September 2017 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) Secondary Level, but did more this time as it also got the second slot aside from three others who shared the seventh slot.

University of Southeastern Philippines-Davao City (Usep), meanwhile got two topnotchers (No. 6 and 9) for the September 2017 LET Elementary Level.

Rhoy Autentico Omega of UM-Davao City scored 93.80 percent to top the 49,626 secondary teachers out of 107,020 (46.37 percent) who passed the LET. At Close No. 2 with just 1.2 percentage points difference is Brian Monpon Ba-An who got 92.60 percent.

Sharing seventh place with six others from different schools for their score of 91.60 percent are: Shamile Josephine Tampipi Arobo of UM-Davao and Caryl James Faith Bangahon Abrenica and Ken Clyde Otig Longos, both of UM-Tagum.

"We are very proud of the achievements of our LET topnotchers of College of Teaching Education," UM President Guillermo Torres Jr. said in a text message as he congratulated the graduates, teachers and the College dean.

"We have been working hard to achieve quality education since 1999 through numerous quality assurance initiatives. The performance of UM at PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) licensure exams are the product of quality assurance to achieve quality education and come out with excellent students," he said.

Just last March 2017 LET, UM also grabbed the top slot with Marian Kaye Gallego, Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Major in Mathematics, who scored 92.80 percent to get the topmost ranking. Six other students also landed in the top 10 in the March 2017 LET examinations, namely Gerlie Tampos Albia of UM-Digos (ranked fifth with a score of 91.40 percent); Rosa Mae Asaytona Salazar and Chrestine Bariquit Torrejos, both at 6th place with a score of 91.20 percent; Leslae Kay Cataytay Mantilla (7th place with a score of 91.00 percent); Kristine Clarrisse Cabante Planas (8th place with 90.60 percent); and Mark John Pepito (9th place with a score of 90.40 percent).

"The UM topnotchers are the testament of quality education," Torres said.

At sixth place in the Elementary Level from Usep is Micca Vanessa Dy Pastelero who got 87.20 percent. She shared this slot with a graduate from St. Louis University.

Sharing ninth place along with eight other passers is Usep's Via Allona Abella Tandiama who scored 86.60 percent.
