AN UNRULY man was injured after he was shot by policemen whom he attacked at Hacienda Fe in Barangay Batuan, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental Friday afternoon.
Superintendent Cresenciano Cordero Jr., city police chief, said police responded to a call for assistance after suspect Rudy Silabai, 33, of Mabinay, Negros Oriental, was creating alarm and scandal and threatened to stab himself and other people in the village.
Armed with a knife, Silabai attacked Police Officer 2 Erwin Antonio, who tried to pacify him. Antonio was unharmed.
Negotiation continued until Silabai also went to attack Senior Police Officer 4 Jerry Rumbines, but the latter avoided injury.
Cordero said other responding policemen fired at the suspect as the situation already indicated danger.
Silabai was hit in his left thigh and was confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.
Cordero said police fired at Silabai to neutralize him because he was very aggressive.
On Thursday evening, Silabai was already detained at the station for alarm and scandal.
Cordero said Silabai and his wife are having marital problems.
Charges for alarm and scandal and direct assault will be filed against Silabai, who is under hospital arrest.
