Unveiling of Himamaylan City hall slated on Sept. 3

OFFICIALS of Himamaylan City led by Mayor Agustin Ernesto Bascon will lead the inauguration of the P223-million City Hall building on September 3.

The inaugural rites will start with a mass and blessing of the structure by 10 priests to be witnessed by dignitaries of Negros Occidental.

The new city hall will be dedicated to the people of Himamaylan, the mayor said.

City officials and personnel will leave the old City Hall, which will be turned over to the Department of Education Division of Himamaylan City.

“I am very happy to say that Himamaylan DepEd is already a separate and different division from Negros Occidental. The order was signed by Secretary Leonor Briones weeks ago,” Bascon said.

“Education would now be acted upon faster and the DepEd can perform better and will be more reachable for the people,” he added.

Bascon is reportedly being groomed to run for congressman of the Fifth District.

“Only God knows about it. I can’t plan for my own life. If it His will, I will say Yes, embrace it with full hands, and whole soul,” the mayor said.
