US envoys recover, beat CMO

THE US Sports Ambassadors bounced back after tasting their first loss in the series of friendly games in Davao City with a 109-90 victory over City Mayors Office (CMO) on Tuesday evening at the Almendras Gym Davao City Recreation Center.

The basketball-playing missionaries, who came from various part of the US, laid it out right from the opening tip to run the tempo of the game and pull away with the victory.

Josh Wrakler took the charge with 25 points for the sports ambassadors who bowed to Goldstar Hardware, 79-74, on Monday night.

John Gross contributed 20 baskets as Trevor Mabalon and Colton Rayburn had 12 points apiece.

CMO ace gunner Christopher "Bong" Go drew the impression of the Americans as the sweet-shooting guard delivered a flurry of baskets that came from various fronts.

Go, the sweet-shooting executive assistant of Mayor Rody Duterte, struck for game-best 32 points, including seven three-pointers.

JR De Guzman and Rodel Bantilan made 14 and 12, respectively, for the City Hall dribblers.

The back-to-back friendly matches of the US sport ambassadors were organized by the Duterte Basketball League in cooperation with the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Davao Region.

Regino Cua, the SBP regional director, thanked Goldstar Hardware team owner Winston Ho and Go for their support to the activities of the US Sports ambassadors.

The US sports ambassadors played exhibition games, conducted basketball clinics and held outreach programs in the city. (RJBb>
