THE University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) hosted the 13th IIEE-CSC Regional Student Conference on September 28-30, 2017 at the Usep Social Hall in Obrero, Davao City.

The event featured Dr. Apollo Arquiza, who delivered a talk on “Climate Change and Power Generation: What’s the Connection?” Dr. Arquiza is a DOST Balik Scientist who is currently working with Usep in developing the use of Computational and Mathematical Modeling for Education and Research Engineering and the Sciences.

To promote unity among electrical engineering students in the region, universities and colleges from Southern Mindanao sent their delegates to participate in the event, which also featured plenary technical presentations, quiz show, sports events, and fellowship among the delegates.

Dr. Lourdes Generalao, University President, is grateful for the possibilities brought by this event, not just for students in Southern Mindanao, but also for all practitioners of electrical engineering.

“The CSC-IIEE is fortunate to be in the company of students who actively participate in gatherings such as this. Their enthusiasm to make positive contributions in the field of engineering keeps Philippine industries globally competitive,” Generalao underscored.

This year’s theme, “Sustaining Growth Initiatives for Global Excellence,” aims to promote academic excellence, innovation, and leadership and professionalism for future electrical engineers. (PR)
