Valerie Concepcion returns to GMA-7

AFTER almost seven years with ABS-CBN, Valerie Concepcion returns to GMA-7, the station that started her career in show biz.

The 25-year-old actress will take the main antagonist role in the remake of primetime series "Anna Karenina."

Valerie told Sun.Star that everything happened so fast and the next things she knew was she's back again with GMA-7.

"I feel happy and thankful sa GMA kasi gusto nila akong makatrabaho ulit. It feels good to be back kung saan ako nagsimula talaga. Gusto ko maipakita ko yung versatility ko as an actress and hopefully magawa ko yun dito," she said.

Valerie clarified that she left ABS-CBN without burning bridges with the giant network.

"I don't want any bad blood with them. Kahit nun umalis ako ng GMA, okay naman lahat and ngayon nakabalik ako. With ABS-CBN naman, we don't know diba kasi I'm still a freelance artist," she said.

Valerie shared that she immediately said 'yes' to "Anna Karenina" because the original version was warmly received by the viewers.

She said that it's a new challenge for her as she will play a kontrabida role and she will be working with new breed of stars.

"Marami na din akong kontrabida roles na natanggap pero ito talaga yung super bad talaga from start to finish. So far, ito yung pinaka-challenging," she said.

While preparing for the role, the actress took acting workshops with Beverly Vergel and cites Jean Garcia and Eula Valdez as her showbiz idols.

She's also open to working again with past co-stars like Dingdong Dantes and Richard Gutierrez and wishes to star opposite Marian Rivera.

Mean time, Valerie said her main priority now is work after her five-year romance with basketball star Dondon Hontiveros ended in heartbreak.

The actress said she wants to enjoy her single life, spend more time with her eight-year-old daughter and concentrate on her new project.

"Hindi naman na-trauma but I just want to be wiser next time. Yung five years na yun, I wouldn't say na waste kasi naging happy naman din ako. Ang feeling ko lang ngayon, bakit ako magco-commit kung I'm not planning na long term pa," she said.

Valerie also added that she's not keen in dating another basketball player as she doesn't want to create more issue and be the laughing stock of everyone.

"Baka ma-compare and yun ang iniiwasan ko. Ayaw ko din ma tag na pinagpasa pasahan ng basketball players. So, even may mga nagpaparamdam, I don't entertain them," she ended. (Sunnex)
