IN A bid to address the traffic problem in La Trinidad, a multi-sectoral traffic summit is being proposed in Benguet’s capital town.
Proposed by Councilor Nestor Fongwan Jr, the summit aims to ease the worsening traffic situation in the valley in the hopes of passing legislative measures that will arm to solve congestion specially during rush hours.
Fongwang said, the traffic congestion is not only causing emotional stress to motorists and the public but it also affects productivity and economic loss to people.
The alderman added the north bound stretch from Km.3 to Km.5, south bound lane from Camp Dangwa to Poblacion crossing, Capitol bound lane from Buyagan Elementary School to San Jose High School and Km.5 bound lane from Toyong to Km.5 crossing are the heavily congested areas during rush hour.
The summit will be participated by the concerned sectors provincial and local officials, police, Department of Public Works and Highways, private sector and business establishments.
Residents of barangays in Central Pico, Balili, Cruz, Alapang, Poblacion, Puguis, Betag and other concerned businesses along the national highway are also invited to join the summit.
Fongwan added the traffic summit will be a venue for both the government and private sector to formulate ways and discuss proposals to address the worsening traffic problem.
The resolution has been forwarded to Mayor Romeo Salda for information and appropriate action.
