FORMER MassKara Festival queen and Binibining Pilipinas-Universe queen Jewel Mae Lobaton organized several activities in line with the 34th MassKara Festival in Bacolod City.
Lobaton organized a talk dubbed as "Women Talk" in relation to Republic Act 9262, an Act defining Violence against Women and their Children.
The guest speaker was Carmen Razon Arceno, District 381 chairman IWC 2013-2014 held at the MassKara hall, Bacolod City Government Center Saturday morning.
She believes that women should be aware and educated about their rights.
Those who are verbally, psychologically, emotionally and physically abused women and children can seek help to various organizations and government and they should not keep it to themselves.
They also had a lecture on solid waste segregation attended by the youth of Bacolod. This is one way to empower the youth through seminar and workshops. The speakers were from the Solid Waste Commission and Clean Hall, their private partner. They taught the young people about various kinds of wastes and how to earn from it.
A clean environment can prevent diseases and also nice to live.
They also had a day with the elderly and the children at Barangay 18, Bacolod City.
"We distributed eye glasses, medicines, clothes and educational materials for the children," she said.
The MassKara Queen circle had a MassKarade Fashion Ball or a fashion show for a cause participated by previous MassKara queens.
Twenty-one out of 29 MassKara queens joined the fashion show for a cause held at the Bacolod Government Center Sunday night.
