Vice guv against ‘dumping’ of erring cops to Armm

NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he does not agree that policemen linked to illegal drugs should be reassigned to other regions, particularly the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm).

“I think it is wrong. It’s either you dismiss or suspend those identified narco policemen,” Lacson said.

So far, 48 “narco” policemen in Negros Island Region have been relieved and transferred to other regions, including Armm and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Last February 6, seven of the remaining 15 policemen in NIR mentioned in the sworn statement of the region's top drug suspect Ricky Serenio were also relieved.

They will be transferred to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

“If I am the governor of Basilan I would complain why would they dump police scalawags in my province. How can it help the image of Basilan?” Lacson added.

Earlier, Armm Governor Mujiv Hataman complained about such practice of transferring notorious policemen to his region. (TDE)
