Vice guv: Maintain peaceful barangay polls

ACTING Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson urged candidates for barangay election this coming October 28 to maintain a peaceful election.

Lacson said that candidates should only present their respective platform of government to convince voters to vote for them during the polls.

He also appealed to the candidates to perform and work on their campaign promises once they get elected.

There are 91 barangays in the province that were identified by the Philippine Army as election watch list areas due to intense political rivalry and presence of New People’s Army rebels.

Lacson, meanwhile, confirmed that “Love Party Negros” will support the barangay officials and candidates who have backed them in the May elections.

But he said that despite the party's support, the candidates should also work hard to win the votes of their constituents and should not only rely on the party support.

Lacson is acting governor until October 18 while the governor is on leave for an international meeting in Japan.
