Village captain’s son shot dead

GUNMEN on board two motorcycles shot dead the son of a barangay captain in Davao City.

Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Reynante Yuste Cagay, married, self-employed and son of Barangay Leon Garcia captain Rolando Cagay.

The victim was killed near his house at Purok San Roque, Gotamco in Barangay Leon Garcia in Agdao, Davao City.

Initial investigation conducted by the Sta. Ana police revealed that while the victim was at the store of one Vicente Bongcaron Villamera in the area, a color white Honda XR motorcycle without plate number arrived with two men onboard.

One of the passengers, his face covered with white towel, reportedly alighted from the vehicle and shot the victim several times.

The victim was still able to run but a black Honda XR motorcycle trailed him, and after cornering him, its passenger alighted and shot him several times again.

The gunman onboard the first motorcycle was only described as male, about 5'4" in height, in his 20s, heavy built, dark complexion and wearing a white shirt, maong shorts, and a black cap.

The second gunman was described as male, about 5'8" in height, with dark complexion, in his 30s and wearing a yellow jacket and black cap.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives led by Police Senior Inspector Nolan Genova recovered from the crime scene six fired cartridges believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol. They are now under police custody for examination.

The body of the victim was brought to Diang Funeral Homes.

Police are conducting further investigation to determine the motive of the incident and to identify the killers.
