Village chief says Delos Santos had no derogatory records

THE village chief of Barangay 160, Caloocan City where Kian Delos Santos was killed on August 16 confirmed Tuesday that the teenager was not included in their drug watchlist and had no derogatory record.

"I did not know him that well but based on barangay records, there was no offense committed by Kian," Barangay chairman Helica Joyce Macalinao said.

Delos Santos, 17, was killed after allegedly resisting arrest by Caloocan City police during an anti-illegal drug operation.

The Caloocan cops reported that the victim fought back and tried to shoot them causing them to kill the teenager as self-defense.

CCTV footage, however, belied their statement as it showed Delos Santos being dragged into an alley where he was eventually killed.

Witnesses also said Delos Santos was handed with a gun and told to run. They said the victim pleaded for his life.

Police admitted earlier that they do not have information on Delos Santos' alleged involvement in illegal drugs prior to the killing.

During the previous Senate hearing, the cops tagged in Delos Santos' killing said they only proved his drug links through social media. (SunStar Philippines)
