ZAMBOANGA CITY (Updated) -- A wife of a village official was killed, while another woman was wounded in a grenade attack in Lamitan City, Basilan province.
Killed was Sapiya Mansul, the wife of Gais, the village chief of Sibago Island, Mohammad Ajul town, said Lamitan police commander Chief Inspector Almer Ismael.
Gais was unscathed in the grenade attack. Wounded, however, was Sonia Delos Santos, who was admitted at St. Peter Memorial Hospital in Lamitan City.
Investigation showed that the Mansul couple was at their rented house when an unidentified man tossed a grenade. The house rented by the couple was owned by the Delos Santos family.
Ismael said investigation continues and all possible motives, including politics and personal grudge, are being looked into to identify the suspect.
He said he also ordered his intelligence personnel to help track down the suspect. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
