Village officials urged to form inventory team

ILOILO City Mayor Jose Espinosa III issued Memorandum Circular 011, directing all incumbent village captains and officials to conduct an inventory and turnover of all barangay properties, financial records, documents, and money accountabilities.

The order is in accordance with the Department of Interior and Local Government Memorandum Circular 2018-12 and in preparation for elections slated on May 14.

“The memorandum circular will enable our incumbent barangay officials to prepare the necessary documents, records, reports, finances and properties that were issued, including their inventory from the start of their terms up to the present, to sustain transparent and accountable local governance at the barangay level,” said Espinosa.

He added that the inventory will guarantee that all government properties are taken care of and properly maintained by barangay officials.

Barangay captains are enjoined to create their respective Barangay Inventory Team.

The team is chaired by the captain while its members include at least two councilmen, secretary, treasurer, bookkeeper or city or municipal representative, and two civil society organization representatives preferably from faith-based organization or members of Barangay Development Council. (PR)
