WATERFRONT Insular Hotel Davao was an ideal venue to celebrate the year that was and ring in 2018 with its festive countdown party themed "Beads and Bling, it's a Mardi Gras thing" on New Year's Eve.
The anticipated New Year celebration held at the Garden Pavilion went full swing at nine o'clock with all-around performances by The Mainstream Jazz Band -- from the traditional New Orleans jazz music to a mix of blues, contemporary, and even some arrangements on popular children's songs -- to make it enjoyable for guests from all generations.
Right in the middle of the program, children and families alike participated in a number of fun games and activities where winners received Waterfront merchandise -- tee shirts, stuffed toys, pillows, tumblers, calendars -- as prizes. Two best dressed males and females also bagged awards for dressing up the part and coming in style.
The highlight of the show at the 45-minute mark before midnight was an aerial silk acrobatic performance as high as 25 feet. While this left guests in awe, the excitement did not stop there with more dancers, more music and everyone were up on their feet as resident DJ, Torch Gacuma, took over and rocked his fifth New Year's Eve set at Waterfront. Came midnight -- horns blew, confetti popped, good cheer filled the air as thousands of balloons dropped and everyone welcomed the first minutes of 2018 in revelry.
For a price of P2,018 nett, a guest was entitled to the foolproof countdown party, a souvenir photo printed and magnet-framed, flowing heavy cocktails crafted by Executive Chef Bien Chavez and his team, a glass of mulled wine, a bottle of beer and access to the mobile bar for a full bar menu. The bar highlighted red and white wine, whiskey, vodka and a variety of beers. Prior to the party, a thanksgiving mass was hosted at the garden area at 7 p.m. while Café Uno was open until 10 p.m. to offer a sumptuous Media Noche.
