What encounter? Test shows no gunpowder residue on Mabinay 6

MYLES Albasin and the five others whom the military arrested in Mabinay, Negros Oriental have tested negative for gunpowder residue.

Albasin’s family hopes that this development will disprove the Armed Forces’ claim that a 45-minute armed encounter happened last March 3. “We are happy because there was no gunpowder residue on them so it means that there was no armed encounter,” Grace, Myles’ mother, told SunStar Cebu.

The paraffin test was conducted by the Negros Oriental Provincial Crime Laboratory.

Col. Medel Aguilar, spokesperson of the AFP-Central Command, said that their personnel who were present in the operations already submitted their sworn statements to the prosecutor during the preliminary investigation last Monday.

“The evidences were also there to support their claim. The Central Command, AFP is happy to see that the wheel of justice is moving forward for everyone to be clarified on the issues surrounding the arrest of the six armed persons in Mabinay, Negros Oriental. Let justice takes its due course,” he said. (JOB)
