Widower, 67, gunned down in Apas

A 67-YEAR-OLD widower was shot to death by two unidentified men riding a yellow motorcycle in Nivel Hills, Barangay Apas, Cebu City yesterday morning.

Police identified the victim as Felipe Angan-Angan, owner of a boarding house and apartment.

He died from gunshot wounds in the neck, chest and other parts of his body. He was rushed to a private hospital, where he later died.

PO3 Cristobal Geronimo, homicide investigator, said his team is looking into a personal conflict as the potential motive in the attack.

He said that they will check the business transactions of Angan-Angan that might help them find a lead in the killing.

“The victim had good relations with his neighbors and he always stayed inside his house,” Geronimo told reporters.

He said the gunman may be a hired killer because of how he did the job swiftly. Police recovered eight empty shells from caliber 9mm pistol at the crime scene.

Before the crime took place past 11 a.m., the gunman was seen by neighbors outside the house for 15 at least minutes.

Angan-Angan, together with his 16-year-old granddaughter, went to his black Kia Rio (AFA-2328) parked in the garage to bring the teen to school.

The girl, who sat on the passenger’s seat, was not hit.

After the vehicle left the garage, the gunman approached Angan-Angan and shot him several times.

A witness told the Homicide Section team that he saw the assassin, who did not cover his face. The gunman wore sunglasses and wrapped his forehead with a black cloth.

The gunman reportedly boarded a motorcycle driven by another man. They sped toward Barangay Lahug.

Geronimo said that the witness will be invited to help the Homicide Section in sketching the assailant’s face.
