Woman, 35, nabbed for swindling

A 35-YEAR-OLD woman was arrested for allegedly promising a suspected drug pusher’s common-law wife to help him get a release from jail.

The suspect, identified as Marlyn Tundag, was caught in an entrapment in Barangay Looc, Danao City last Wednesday.

Two sachets of suspected shabu were seized from her possession.

Tundag allegedly dropped names of officials from the judiciary and Danao City Hall to earn the trust of her prospective victim.

Chief Insp. Gerard Ace Pelare, city police commander, said Tundag allegedly befriended her victim Marivic Tampon when the two met in court.

“Daghan mig nadawat nga reports nga daghan na siya’g nailad (We have received lots of reports that she had swindled several people),” he said.

Tundag allegedly claimed that she has connections with Danao City Regional Trial Court Branch 25 Judge Jerry Dicdican and Danao City Prosecutor Armando Consolacion.

She asked P7,500 from Tampon last week to process the release of Tampon’s partner.

The victim gave the money, but her partner still stayed in jail.

When Tundag asked for an additional payment of P2,000, Tampon reported her to the police station, and it resulted to the suspect’s arrest. (KAL)
