Woman faces raps for hurting cop

A WOMAN is facing multiple charges before the City Prosecutor's Office after she allegedly hit a policeman in Bacolod City.

Charges for direct assault, obstruction of justice, and physical injuries were filed on Thursday against Rosebel Narciso, 40, of Purok Kasanag, Barangay Mandalagan.

The complainant, Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, officer-in-charge of Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO), said the incident happened Wednesday evening while his team was conducting a clearing operation against pedicabs, tricycles, and e-trikes illegally crossing Lacson Street.

He said that while he was talking to Narciso, she hit him with a flashlight that caused him bruises. Narciso's 16-year-old son also punched Acebuche.

Senior Inspector Larry Teovisio, head of Police Station 3, said Narciso has been detained at the station’s custodial facility after Acebuche reported the incident.

Narciso’s son will face separate charges, he said.

City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan said the City Government is willing to help Acebuche in his case against Narciso and her son.

“It really calls for a proper persecution,” he added.

Two days ago, the BTAO personnel already warned pedicab and tricycle operators to avoid obstructing traffic at Lacson Street.

Bayatan said they received complaints from motorists. However, violators continuously neglected the law, prompting Acebuche to conduct the clearing operation.

Bayatan said pedicab and tricycle operators are not deprived of their means of livelihood but they should also learn to respect the law.

They are not allowed to join other motorized vehicles in the city's main thoroughfares because it can bring danger to the passengers and even contribute to traffic in the area, he added.
