Woman killed after she beheaded 2 babies

A WOMAN believed to have suffered a nervous breakdown killed two infants, including her 18-month-old-daughter, at Purok 4, Barangay Baclao, Cauayan town Friday.

Perlita Sagmon, who was in her early 30s, was killed by her nephew, Rodney Montilla Sr., 27, after she killed the babies inside his house.

Senior Police Officer 3 Jose Gilbert Salcedo, spokesperson of Cauayan Police Station, on Sunday said Montilla will be released today after the lapse of the reglementary period for the filing of charges against him.

Sagmon beheaded her own baby daughter and her 19-months-old nephew Rodney Montilla Jr., using a bolo.

Investigation showed that around 5 p.m. Friday, while Lealyn Montilla, 26, wife of Rodney, was preparing dinner, Sagmon entered their house and stabbed her.

Lealyn asked the suspect why did she hurt her, but Sagmon continued to attack her until she fell on the ground. However, Lealyn managed to run to ask for help from her husband.

The Montilla couple’s two other children were also able escape.

When Rodney reached their house, he saw his aunt holding a bolo with the two babies with wounds on their necks.

He immediately confronted his aunt and hacked her using a bolo. He then voluntarily surrendered to the police.

Sagmon’s husband said he will not file charges against Rodney.
