WV men’s football team 4-peat SCUAA champs

THE coach John Carmona-mentored Western Visayas men’s football extended their reign to a four-peat after a 6-1 demolition of Eastern Visayas in the the 2018 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) National Championships held in Antique.

Bannered by the Central Philippine State University-San Carlos City the team got their scoring from Roynick Bernardo, Neil Tenebroso, Arnel Christian Marcellana and Jasper Aguado.

Also helping out in defending their title are David Caballero, Angelo Froyle Ledesma, Vincent Rito Ortigas, Adrian Tiongson, Jerald Paparon, Clifford Tecson, Christian Derick Binondo, Christian Paul Tenebroso, Jaypee Magnifico, Glen Frey Rigor, Kenneth Rafael, Rey Lester Oreta, Jonel Selibio, and Jasper Layagon.

The National Capital Region emerged as the after hauling 165 golds, 59 silvers and 45 bronze medals during the week-long competition.

The Manila-based contingent ruled men and women’s basketball, swimming, baseball, softball, karatedo, taekwondo, and sepak takraw.

Central Luzon settled for second over-all with 83 golds, 71 silvers and 84 bronze medals wherein majority of it came from their dominating performances in athletics, archery and boxing.

Western Visayas finished third with 40 golds, 38 silvers, and 70 bronze medals, with most of it coming from pencak silat, women’s badminton, arnis and men’s football. (HGD)
