Are you a risk-taker? Do you like delving into the world of the uncertain?
It is true that life is full of unexpected loop-de-loops and 360 spins, but the question that we need to ask ourselves is that are we courageous enough to take the risk?
Everyone wants to be successful in life. Yes, that’s totally true. I’ve never heard someone say that he or she doesn’t want to become successful.
All of us have goals that we want to achieve and careers that we want to pursue. And no one would like to settle for less. Human as we are, we want to have more. We strive for greater things for it is our aim to have a better way of living and attain contentment - to become better than our past selves.
Honestly, I consider taking my course as one of the big risks I took in life. I entered this course without having a clear objective in mind. At first, I thought this would be a lot easier because I have joined different broadcasting competitions before and I’ve also hosted many programs back in High school. But I was wrong. It was actually way different and complicated compared to what other people and I think it would be. In my freshman year, I likened myself to a baby who’s taking its first step.
The media world was introduced to us in different ways and up until the theories. The sophomore year was the crawling year. It was fun because we’ve learned to work as a team. The junior year, on the other hand, was the walking year as we felt the struggles as well as the fun side of being in the media starting from the sleepless nights preparations for productions, the points deduction because of having Z.O.A.D (Zero on Air Deficiency), up to the wonderful array of different ideas and creativity in showcasing our skills in Filmmaking and including our internship in radio and print reporting. I’ve learned a lot and I am looking forward to learn more.
I have a firm belief in the saying that “All great things start from humble beginnings.” And I think that is just one of the many reasons why I’m still here, learning and going through all these doors that offer different environments and rooms to grow. And of course, for the unending support of my family especially my parents (Hi Ma and Pa! I love you!) And my dear friends and classmates - the Batch Felicity. This risk would be a lot tougher if you weren’t there to help and support me in venturing into the media world.
Yes, I am certain that I haven’t taken all the risks present in my life. I could’ve been in a different place now if I took all of those but one thing I know for sure is that this course helped me grow holistically and with that, I consider this as one of the risks worth taking. (Cedie Nabor)
