FIFTEEN young entrepreneurs founded The Flash, a delivery business that marries information technology and logistics together to provide convenience to Dabawenyos who would need something as soon as possible but do not want to be stuck in traffic.
On Friday, August 18, The Flash was officially launched at Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. office.
Their company is called Golden Dunamis, which they look forward to be an umbrella company that will supervise future The Flash outlets in different cities in the country. The main model of the business is on delivery and logistics innovation wherein clients can make use of The Flash application to request for deliveries and errands. They can also be reached through Facebook.
“As what we have seen, any web or IT-related innovations can have a dent on the economy. I guess we have the dibs. We have the idea and the passion of all the investors that are currently involved in,” Eulice Tumbali, Golden Dunamis chairman of the board, said.
He added they will accept deliveries of any items including food, documents, and small packages among others as long as the items do not exceed the 15 kilogram limit and the P2,000 amount. They will also accept errand services including bill payments, quick-need grocery, and advertising for company clients.
As they started brainstorming for the project, Tumbali said the few challenges that would arise include the insurance of drivers, logistic hazards, communication line, location, time management, and highway operation. After identifying these factors, Golden Dunamis decided to come up with accident insurance for their four drivers, coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Explosive and Ordinance Division to avoid transport of any illegal substance, and made their services accurate by providing the drivers with android phones with GPS and mapping system.
“We’ve done mapping. Units are located strategically in Davao City. We started with four units to study the operation. We target 20 units or more by the end of the year depending on the operations,” said Golden Dunamis chief executive officer Frances Sigaya.
As they start with their business here in Davao, they are also looking into potential expansions in other cities in the country. Within two months, they target to bring their services to Cebu where some 11 investors are already willing to invest for them. Other cities that they also found to have a huge potential include Surigao, Butuan, Pasay, and Makati.
