ONE-hundred youth volunteers who would assist in monitoring the conduct of the 2016 local and national elections have completed a two-day photojournalism seminar in Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
The Junior Chamber International (JCI)-Philippines facilitated the seminar, which was held from Monday until Tuesday, May 3, at the Dakak Park and Beach Resort.
The seminar was conducted by JCI-Dapitan City Chapter, in partnership with Mindanao-based freelance photojournalist Richel Umel, who is also a correspondent of Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
Karl Obordo of JCI-Dapitan City Chapter said the volunteers are from the 50 villages of the city.
Obordo said they will join the Civil Society Organization in monitoring the conduct of the May 9 elections; as the photographs taken by youth volunteers can be used as documentary evidence in filing legal actions against those who would violate election rules.
