THE Department of Agriculture (DA)-Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) has recognized the efforts of the Zamboanga City Government for its excellent implementation of the rabies prevention and control program.
City Hall Information Officer Belen Sheila Covarrubias said the city's recognition as “Best LGU Rabies Program Implementer” will be conferred to city officials on September 28 in Manila during a ceremony marking the celebration of World Rabies Day.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and Dr. Mario Arriola, city veterinarian, have been invited to receive the award during a ceremony set to be held at the DA-BAI Fertilizer and Pesticides Authority conference room on Wednesday, September 28.
The DA-BAI, through the National Rabies Prevention and Control Committee, is spearheading the World Rabies Day celebration with the theme “Rabies: Educate. Vaccinate. Eliminate.” The activity is in conjunction with the celebration of the Animal Welfare Week.
