Zamboanga City to double militiamen's honoraria

THE City Government of Zamboanga approved the proposal to double the honoraria of members of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) in the city.

City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the monthly honorarium of each Cafgu member will be increased from P2,000 to P4,000.

She said the increase will take effect next year.

“This is good news for our Cafgu members being our force multipliers in the city’s security efforts,” Salazar said, adding that an additional Cafgu company will be organized for the city.

She said the additional forces will be deployed in the Licomo-Vitali-Curuan area to assist the Marines in conducting security checkpoints.

The Cafgu was created on July 25, 1987, through Executive Order No. 264, entitled “Providing for the Citizen Armed Force”, signed by then President Corazon Aquino.
