Zamboanga City tourism stakeholders launch website

THE Hotel and Restaurant Association of Zamboanga City (HRAZC) has launched a website to serve as guides to domestic and international tourists who wish to visit the city.

The launch was held on Thursday at the culmination of the 10-day Tourism Industry Skills Program jointly undertaken by the tourism stakeholders and the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Erold Bayona, Asosacion de Guia Turistico del Zamboanga (Tour Guides Association of Zamboanga) president, said the website will serve as the channel to inform what the city can offer to tourists, both domestic and international.

Bayona said through the website, they can promote and change the image of the city as he acknowledged that security is a concern to attract tourists.

Bayona said the website will also serve as channel in providing updates on tourism and related activities.

“Basically, we wanted to give the right information (about Zamboanga City),” he added.

The website is www.hrazc.com. Its mission is to serve as the voice of the industry working as one body to promote, protect, represent and advance the interests of its members.

Meanwhile, 41 tourism HRAZC members have completed on Thursday the 10-day Tourism Industry Skills Program that started on September 18.

Bernard Gregorio, DOT regional administrative officer, said the objective of the program is to improve and level-up the services of the local tourism establishments.

Gregorio said leveling-up the services would entice more tourists to visit Zamboanga City.

Gregorio said the skills program is the first the agency conducted in the region in partnership with the concerned stakeholders.

He said the next skill program will be conducted in Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay. (SunStar Philippines)
