Zamboangueño senator remembered

ZAMBOANGA City is commemorating on Friday, February 9, the 103rd birth anniversary of Roseller T. Lim, the first and only Zamboangueño senator.

Dubbed as the “Dia de Roseller”, the activity will kick off with a commemorative mass at the Carmelite Monastery at 4 p.m..

It will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the R.T. Lim monument at the junction of Normal Road in Baliwasan.

Capping off the observance activities will be the awarding ceremony of 2018 Search for the Five Outstanding Zamboangueño Young Leaders (FOZYL) at 7 p.m. in one of the local hotels.

The commemorative activity is anchored on the theme “The Relevance of Senator Roseller T. Lim to the 21st Century Zamboangueño Leaders.”

Roseller Tarrosa Lim was born to Antonio Lim and Mercedes Tarrosa in February 9, 1915 in the village of Recodo, this city.

He studied in Jovellar Primary School (now Baliwasan Elementary School), and Ateneo de Zamboanga High School where he graduated as Class Valedictorian.

He earned his Associate in Arts (AA) program in History and Law degree from Silliman University in 1940, and passed the bar the same year. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
