KUALA LUMPUR --  The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on Thursday, June 26, 2025, welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, urging all parties to avoid further escalation and commit to long-term peace.

In a joint statement, ASEAN reaffirmed the importance of protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure during armed conflicts, in line with international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

“We support ongoing efforts, including those led by the UN, aimed at de-escalating tensions and facilitating the resumption of constructive engagement among parties involved,” the bloc said.

ASEAN called on all parties to respect the ceasefire agreement and prevent further conflict in the region.

The ceasefire between Israel and Iran was officially declared earlier this week following weeks of heightened tensions and military strikes.
