THE armed border clashes between Thailand and Cambodia entered their fourth day on Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Both nations accuse each other of violating international law and firing first.

More than 30 people have died on both sides since the fighting began Thursday. Over 100,000 people have evacuated to safe areas, according to figures from the two countries.

Richa Suksuwanon, deputy spokesperson for the Thai army, said Cambodia fired the first shots into Thai territory early Sunday. Shells struck several areas, including a civilian house.

Meanwhile, Cambodian Defense Ministry Undersecretary of State and spokesperson Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata stated that from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, the Thai army fired artillery at various locations in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces.

"Our forces have fought back actively and vigorously to defend our territorial sovereignty," Socheata said. (Xinhua)
