DEBRIS from a passenger plane that went missing on Thursday, July 24, 2025, has been discovered in Russia's Far Eastern Amur Region. Local emergency services report no survivors.

The An-24 aircraft, operated by Angara Airlines, was traveling from Khabarovsk to Tynda, with a stopover in Blagoveshchensk.

Amur Oblast Governor Vasily Orlov stated on Telegram that 43 passengers and six crew members were on board.

Emergency services located the wreckage on a mountainside, approximately 15 kilometers from the city of Tynda.

"There were no reports from the crew regarding any problems or technical malfunctions, and no distress signals were transmitted," the TASS news agency quoted local emergency services as saying.

The aircraft was expected to contact air traffic controllers at a control checkpoint near the Tynda airport, but failed to check in at the point.

Search and rescue personnel have been dispatched to the crash site. (Xinhua)
