VETERAN guard James Harden signed a three-year, $97 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, becoming the fourth player in National Basketball Association (NBA) history to reach $500 million in career earnings.
Harden joins LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry as the only players to achieve this milestone.
The lefty guard also made history by securing the most lucrative contract ever received by a player at 36 years old.
Harden is preparing for his first full season with the Cavaliers after joining them late last season via a trade from the Los Angeles Clippers.
In his 44 games with Cleveland, Harden averaged 20 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.9 rebounds. During the playoffs, he played in 18 matches, posting 19.2 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game.
The tandem of Harden and Donovan Mitchell is expected to be one of the top storylines to watch out for in the upcoming season.
Harden entered the league in 2009 as the third overall pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he won the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. He was traded to the Houston Rockets, playing there from 2012 to 2021, where he secured three scoring titles and eight All-Star selections.
Following his time in Houston, Harden had stints with the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Clippers before landing with the Cavaliers. / RSC
