JERUSALEM -- Sirens sounded across central, northern Israel and Israel-controlled Jerusalem as Iran launched a new wave of ballistic missiles on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Israelis in affected areas were instructed to remain in bomb shelters.
It marked the first Iranian ballistic missile strike on Israel in over a day — and the first since the United States attacked Iran’s three nuclear facilities.
Israel closed its airspace in an apparent precautionary measure following the US strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the Israel Airports Authority announced earlier.
The Israel Defense Forces announced that, with the approval of Defense Minister Israel Katz and following a situational assessment, immediate changes to the Home Front Command instructions will take effect as of Sunday at 3:45 a.m.
As part of these changes, all areas of the country will shift from “Partial and Limited Activity” to “Essential Activity.” The revised instructions include a prohibition on educational activities, gatherings, and non-essential workplaces. / XINHUA
