THE Denver Nuggets exorcised some playoff demons on Saturday night (Sunday, May 4, 2025, PH time) with a dominant 120-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 7.
Denver, who led by as many as 35 points, delivered a resounding performance that contrasted sharply with their Game 7 collapse against Minnesota in the second round of the previous year.
“It feels good,” said interim Nuggets coach David Adelman.
The Nuggets now advance to face a formidable opponent in the Oklahoma City Thunder.
While Nikola Jokic contributed 16 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, Denver’s win was a team effort. Aaron Gordon led the way with 22 points, supported by strong performances from Christian Braun (21 points), Jamal Murray and Russell Westbrook (16 points each), and Michael Porter Jr. (15 points).
Denver’s defense was equally impressive, notably Christian Braun’s defense on James Harden.
Los Angeles was led by Kawhi Leonard with 22 points.
The Nuggets’ journey this season, marked by coaching and front-office changes, was shadowed by the previous season’s playoff disappointment.
The team’s response to adversity, including recovering from a blown lead in Game 4 of this series, culminated in their dominant Game 7 performance.
Denver’s decisive second and third quarters, where they outscored Los Angeles 72-40, showcased their resilience and determination.
