Terrorist attacks kill 257 in first 6 months

ISLAMABAD — A total of 257 people were killed and 492 others injured in 501 terrorist incidents in Balochistan Province, Pakistan during the first half of 2025, local authorities reported.

The figure reflects a 45 percent increase in attacks compared to the same period in 2024.

The report noted that 81 attacks using improvised explosive devices, grenades, bombs, and landmines resulted in 26 deaths and 112 injuries.

A sharp rise in attacks targeting non-local residents was also recorded. Fourteen incidents in this category left 52 people dead and 11 others injured — a 100 percent increase from the previous period.

Two attacks on passenger trains killed 29 people, while 39 attacks on civilians left 11 dead and 29 injured.

A health worker was also killed in an attack on a polio vaccination team. Nine attacks on mobile phone towers injured two individuals.
