A 15-year-old student was shot inside a classroom in Barangay Rizal, Sta. Rosa town, Nueva Ecija province on Thursday, August 7, police said.
Brigadier General Ponce Rogelio Peñones, Police Regional Office 3 director, said the student identified as "Lea" was shot in the neck by another student named "Leo," upon entering the classroom at around 10:45 am on said date.
The police official said the suspect drew a .22-caliber gun from his waist, and shot the victim before shooting himself.
He said both were rushed to the nearest hospital treatment and their current condition remained undisclosed as of this posting.
Police said they are now establishing the motive behind the incident and how the suspect obtained the gun.
The local police added that it is working hand-in-hand with the school and the parents of involved students.
Peñones said they are coordinating with the school administration to ensure the safety of other students.
