Three individuals, formerly linked to communist insurgent groups, surrendered to authorities in various operations across Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Zambales on June 2, 2025.
In Tarlac, a former Milisyang Bayan member identified as “Ka Patrik” surrendered to the personnel of the San Jose Municipal Police Station.
In Zambales, one “Celing Ramos” surrendered to the 305th Maneuver Company Headquarters of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 (RMFB3).
Police said Ramos was a courier, marketer, and collector for the Regional Guerrilla Unit (RGU), which operated in Zambales and nearby provinces.
In a separate incident in Nueva Ecija, a farmer known as “Lito”, voluntarily surrendered to the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, 2nd Maneuver Platoon under the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO).
He was previously associated with the Sentro de Gravidad (SDG) and the Alyansa ng mga Magbubukid sa Gitnang Luzon – Nueva Ecija Chapter (AMGL–NE).
Lito said he was recruited in 2018 by Nicomedes Ortiz, a recognized figure within the organization.
The three turned over firearms and ammunition, including improvised and homemade weapons, which were secured by the cops for proper disposition.
The former rebels are currently under police custody for debriefing and documentation.
Brigadier General Jean S. Fajardo, director of Police Regional Office III, said the surrender of the three shows the progress of government programs aimed at ending armed conflict.
“Their return to the fold of the law is a strong indication that our initiatives to encourage those who have strayed are working. With the help of President Marcos’ whole-of-nation approach, we continue to offer former rebels a chance to start anew and become productive members of society,” she said.
