Police arrested 33 individuals for violating the liquor ban in several incidents in Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac on Sunday, May 11.
The arrested persons are now facing charges under COMELEC Omnibus Election Code Resolution No. 11057.
Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, Police Regional Office III (PRO-3) director, said the liquor ban is enforced as part of efforts to maintain peace and order during the election period.
“The enforcement of the liquor ban is a key component of our security measures to ensure safe and orderly elections. We will not allow alcohol consumption to disrupt peace in our communities during this crucial time,” she said.
Fajardo clarified that the 48-hour liquor ban started at midnight on May 11 and will end at 11:59 PM on May 12.
The ban covers the selling, purchasing, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
