5 dead, 9 injured in CLLEX mishap

Five people died while nine others were injured after a van crashed into a fence along the Central Luzon Link Expressway in Tarlac on the morning of Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said the "self-accident" involving an L 300 FB occurred along the said expressway in La Paz, Tarlac.

It added that some 11 victims were taken to the Tarlac Provincial Hospital while three at Jecsons Medical Center.

The driver told investigators that he lost control of the vehicle.

The injured individuals received first aid from personnel of the PRC-Tarlac before they were brought to the hospitals.

Police said the incident could be considered a self-accident as no other vehicles were involved.

The PRC-Tarlac has set up an assistance desk and first aid station at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital.

PRC Chairman Richard Gordon thanked his staff and volunteers for their swift response and coordination with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
