Angeles City Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin, Jr. has directed the local police on Monday to increase police visibility following two shooting incidents recently.
The mayor also asked the Philippine National Police in the city to conduct " 24/7" checkpoints at all entry points in the city.
The incidents, which took place on March 15, 2025, in Barangays Mining and Ninoy Aquino, left both victims hospitalized.
The city government said it has allocated P11 million annually for the allowances of Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) personnel.
Some P500,000 of the remaining funds will be used to cover fuel expenses for continuous police patrols, the local government added.
With the increase in police presence, Lazatin said business owners and residents can feel more secured and be encouraged to report crimes transpiring in their communities.
The city government, in coordination with the ACPO, said it continues to strengthen law enforcement efforts to ensure the safety of people living in the city.
Last month, the mayor said the upgraded City Command Center was inaugurated.
Some 210 additional high-tech security cameras were installed in different locations, he added.
With a total of 375 cameras now operational across the city, Lazatin said this initiative ensures there are no more blind spots.
