Angat water level increases

Published on:

Water level at the Angat Dam has slightly increased follow rains over the past few days, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

The current water level as of May 8, was recorded at 202.05 meters, showing a slight increase from 201.91 meters the previous day, May 7, according to data posted on the Pagasa website.

The level of water however remains 7.95 meters below the Normal High Water Level (NHWL) of 210.00 meters.

The current elevation is 16.28 meters above the Rule Curve elevation of 185.77 meters.

Data showed that no gate openings were reported.

Meanwhile, data on inflow and outflow in cubic meters per second (cms) were not provided in the monitoring report.

Angat Dam's water supply is used by Metro Manila for domestic consumption.

A considerable percentage of the dam's water is used for irrigation of some 20,000 hectares of farmlands in Bulacan.

Aside from this, some 2,000 hectares of farmlands in Candaba, San Luis, and Santa Ana in Pampanga also rely on the dam for water supply.

Despite the slight increase, the current water level is still far from the critical threshold for drinking water of 160.00 meters.
