City of San Fernando Mayor Vilma Caluag has asked officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 3 to expedite road projects in the city.

The mayor reiterated her call during a meeting with DPWH 3 officials at the Executive Building on Monday.

Caluag said the city government initiated the meeting as part of its effort to address flooding concerns amidst the rainy season.

The officials tackled the completion of the roadworks along MacArthur Highway in front of the Regional Government Center (SACOP traffic light area) in Maimpis—a point of congestion for commuters.

The meeting was attended by DPWH Project Head Engineer III Kenneth Edward Fernando, and representatives of R.D. Policarpio, the private contractor for the project.

Caluag emphasized the impact of the projects on the daily lives of the constituents.

She also stressed the importance of swift completion of the project to improve traffic flow and mitigate perennial flooding issues in the affected areas.

During the event, the mayor even urged the private sector to unite and assist the local government relative to the issues.

She said collaborative efforts between the government and private entities would be a "substantial help in resolving the city's persistent traffic and flooding challenges. |
